|RC129- the new 2012 29er model from Pace Cycles is designed as a fast and stable trail bike which is a blast to ride and a joy to own. Based upon our hugely successfull RC104 frame the 129er has completely revised geometry over the 104 and gives that wonderful and typically 29er ‘planted’ ride quality but with faster front end manoeuvrability than often found on 29ers- making it more akin to the 26″ wheeled 104.Like the 104 the 129er boasts one of the most beautifully made frames- a true master craftsman frame build constructed from the finest Reynolds 853 to best deliver that classic steel ride quality. Each frame is handmade using traditional methods with painstaking attention to detail. Each joint is hand mitered for a perfect fit, TIG welded for strength then Fillet Brazed using only the best silver and brass fillers. Each joint is sanded back to give that typically smooth and flowing fillet and is both tough and a joy to behold. The Rc129 is designed for a 100mm travel fork.*DEMO THIS BIKE IN DALBY FOREST TODAY!*|

Lefthand detail pic. Comfort levels are improved by building in just the right tube diameter, butt profile and curves so that vertical compliance is enhanced and that typical steel spring is retained. Pace also factor in the stiffening effect of chrome plate (Rc129er seat and chainstays are fully plated underneath the paintfinish).
Middle detail pic. Attention to detail can be found everywhere on the 129- note the toptube reinforcing gusset and also the new Stembar option (available late- 2011). Steerer clamp is side mounted for smooth lines and to keep those knees beatutiful and scar free.
Righthand detail pic. New 2012 Slideout version allows the 129er to be run singlespeed or geared. Now precision investment cast for perfect alignment the lefthand side features a cunning detail that counteracts braking torque keeping the slideouts inline under heavy braking. This feature is now built into the external adjuster screw (rather than the concealed version in 2011)

|Frameset. With short 44.3cm chainstays (adjustable +/-6mm through the Slideout System) to tuck in the rear wheel for improved climbing and faster handling you’ll find the 129er one of the most comfortable hardtails there is. Curved and butted stays combined with an under-paint chrome plate gives just the right amount of dialled resilience to the rear of the frame, whilst ‘oversized’ main frame tube diameters give the whole rig a taut and planted feel.Toe overlap is minimised by refining the relationship between top tube length, headtube angle and fork offset ensuring the Rc129 is very fast, precise and sharp handling even flicking through tight trees and over techy terrain. As with the 104 the 129er uses burly oversize main frame tubes rather than the more typical small dia road tubesets commonly found in steel mountain bike frames. This provides increased durability, higher performance in larger frame sizes and is more appropriate to 29er frames where loads can be higher than those exerted in 26″ applications.Tubeset is the renowned Reynolds 853 Pro-Team (all mainframe) with Pace 4130 Chromo butted and tapered chainstays and seatstays. High load areas feature additional gussets added discretely to toptube, downtube and chainstay junctions whilst the seat tube has been reduced in diameter (and in-fact moved forward on the BB shell) to create additional rear tyre room.Pace have also used the unique Pace Slideout system so that the bike can be run geared or singlespeed with the system having been updated to make chain-tensioning faster and easier. The 129er features a deep, tough and high gloss paint finish with added durability given by the exposed chrome plating to the Slideouts and driveside chainstay. All finished off with coachwork line detailing and under laquer decals. Frameset includes Pace RC80 BB. Available Now. Stembar. Pace is also offering a 4130 Chromo Front fork and one-piece Stembar specifically for the 129er and with colour coded paintwork really give that integrated and fully designed look to a complete bike. The RC7×63 Stembar has a custom investment cast clamp with slide slot for improved knee clearance and combines a short 70mm reach (90 degrees to steerer) with a flatline 630mm width butted bar- again TIG and Fillet Brazed construction. Available late 2011.129 fork. The RC29-4130 fork has tapered and butted straight legs and includes stainless steel dropouts and IS disc mount so paintwork isn’t damaged when wheels and brakes are mounted. A brake hose guide is brazed to rear of leg and the whole unit is TIG welded to produce a high quality construction. Tyre has a whopping 83mm clearance inside the fork legs. Fork length is 473mm and offset is 50mm.Both products are tuned to provide a comfortable buzz free ride and are available in all three colour finishes. RC129 frame is one of the best corrosion protected steel frames in the business and we take great care to ensure a long and rust free life. Underneath the twin-pack epoxy paintwork you’ll find a quality coat of chrome plate covering all of the chainstays and the seat stays too, so you have one of the toughest surface treatments in the area of the frame that gets the most abuse. Up front the main frame is phosphate treated during the manufacturing process which adds a very high level of corrosion resistance internally and externally, and again this provides a great base coat for the paint finish. All graphics are applied to the paint surface before the whole paint job is sprayed with a tough high gloss clearcoat of laquer. However customers often choose to add their own belt and braces protection to their new frame and for this we recommend the world famous J.P Weigle Frame Save spray which coats the tubes internal surfaces with a rust inhibiting coating.
We also drill a small 4mm hole in the underside of the BB shell which allows the frame to breath and drain any moisture which gravitates into the BB shell. If you have the plastic under BB shell cable guide fitted its worthwhile periodically loosening this cleaning out the drain hole and its area.
- Touch up paint now available @ £5.95 in all three RC129 colours
- The plastic ‘undertunnel’ cable guide is supplied with frame but not fitted (not required if running singlespeed). Make sure when fitting that washer supplied is fitted under screw head otherwise screw may penetrate too deeply and damage the sleeve of your BB
Your RC129 comes with a full 2 year warranty which covers any defect in manufacture or materials. This applies to you the original owner. However we also provide a Pace ‘Crash Replacement’ scheme during the frames 3 and 4 year where a replacement frame will be offered at a full 30% discount! (from SRP). Again this only applies to the original owner and the original purchase receipt must be provided with any claim. original frame goes back to Pace.
