PRESS RELEASE

DALBY BIKE BARN OPENS FRIDAY 25 MAY

Pace Cycles and CTC to launch Dalby Bike Barn at Dalby Forest

Pace Cycles and CTC have been awarded the contract  to run the cycle hire, retail, courses and events opportunity in Dalby Forest, near Pickering North Yorkshire, after successfully re-tendering for the business.

The trail centre will launch as the Dalby Bike Barn and the aim is to make it a social hub for local, regional and national visitors building on its already strong reputation as a venue for the World Cup and Tour of Britain stage.

Pace Cycles has teamed up with the Forestry Commission to open this new and exciting trail centre in partnership with CTC, and through collaborating with other Dalby businesses the Dalby Bike Barn will be able to offer a unique combination of opportunities for visitors.

The partnership brings together one of the UK’s original and iconic mountain bike brands renowned for its high quality cycles and components and CTC, the UK’s largest cycling charity with over a century’s experience of promoting cycling – on and off the road.

Dalby Bike Barn will provide a full cycle hire service in conjunction with a high quality retail experience supplying a range of bike brands and accessories. The CTC is looking to make the location at Dalby its flagship Centre of Excellence, where the charity will deliver all its training, guiding, coaching and education services from introduction level through to professional qualifications.

Adrian Carter, Pace Managing Director, said;

“The strength of our offer was to recognise that Dalby can only progress when we’re working together toward a common goal- to take it forward and build upon its world-class reputation. We intend to form a strong and unique partnership with CTC, Forestry Commission and other businesses in Dalby bringing together our collective strengths.

Dalby Bike Barn’s key objectives are to enhance the customer experience, especially during the winter months, by providing a warm and welcoming experience, a focal point for the local cycling community and attract more tourists. We’re especially keen to attract more road riders onto the forest drive and its idyllic country lanes, as well as cater for the enthusiast mountain biker.”

Dan Cook, CTC Senior Off-road Officer, said;

“Dalby is an ideal environment for each of the 29 different cycling courses that CTC offers across road and off-road contexts, and will make the forest a Centre of Excellence for cycle education, learning and development.

Dalby will also make a fantastic base for CTC’s expertise in community development through cycling and will be a great asset to people living locally and across Yorkshire and the North East. Partnering with Pace and the Forestry Commission at Dalby Forest means that we can inspire lots more people to cycle.”

Alan Eves, Forest Management Director, said;

“The future looks very exciting and we look forward to working with Pace and CTC to build on Dalby’s fantastic reputation as a top cycling venue.”
